Fondazione Bracco is one of the main sponsors of Pavia 1525: The arts in the Renaissance and the battle tapestries,” an exhibition being staged at the Civic Museums of Castello Visconteo in Pavia on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Pavia. The exhibition, which celebrates the city’s role as a crossroads of arts, ideas and culture in the Renaissance, is also a way of reinforcing the bonds between Pavia and the Region of Lombardy in which it lies, and generally promoting Italy's national cultural heritage.
Taking pride of place at the exhibition are the monumental tapestries of the Civic Museum and of the Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples, which are flanked by masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Pietro Perugino, Ambrogio Bergognone and Bernardino Zenale. Paintings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, and exquisite artefacts offer a portrait of a vibrant and innovative city, in constant dialogue with the great European cultural centres of the time.
A special chapter is dedicated to Bergognone's polyptych for the Charterhouse (Certosa) of Pavia. Thanks to the support of the Bracco Foundation, visitors can examine the results of non-invasive diagnostic analyses conducted on several panels by teams from universities and centres of excellence in restoration, including the University of Milan, a spin-off company called IUSS-Pavia DeepTrace Technologies, and the Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre. The exhibition, which thus combines the worlds of art and science, offers new perspectives on the complexity of the polyptych and its state of conservation.
Running from 19 September 2025 to 11 January 2026, the exhibition explores the Renaissance in Pavia and its European significance through an approach that integrates research, promotion, and cultural dissemination. With this sponsorship, the Bracco Foundation is once again demonstrating its dedication to fostering dialogue between the worlds of art and science through initiatives such as this that are projected toward the future while also remaining firmly attached to the country's historical heritage.
