From September 23, 2025 to January 11, 2026, Palazzo Reale presents “Appiani. Neoclassicism in Milan”, a major exhibition sponsored by Bracco Foundation. The exhibition is dedicated to the painter who captured the spirit of the Enlightenment and the Napoleonic Era, giving shape to an elegant, modern and European Milan.
The exhibition features over 100 works from prestigious Italian and international collections, offering a journey ranging from portraits of leading figures of the Enlightenment, such as Parini and Foscolo, to Napoleonic celebrations, including a reconstruction of The Fasti of Napoleon in the Hall of the Caryatids and the cartoon of Napoleon’s Apotheosis, preserved at the Louvre Museum.
The exhibition is promoted by the Comune di Milano – Cultura and produced by Palazzo Reale, Civita Mostre e Musei, Electa, and MondoMostre, in collaboration with the Superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan city of Milan, the Pinacoteca di Brera and Villa Carlotta.
The Bracco Foundation's support for the initiative reflects its mission to promote culture as a driver of social and collective growth. As President Diana Bracco points out: “Supporting such an important cultural project is a natural commitment for the Bracco Foundation and consistent with our mission: to promote knowledge and the value of culture as a fundamental element of collective progress.”
Accompanying the exhibition is a rich catalogue published by Electa, featuring introductory essays, critical analyses, and scholarly entries on the works on display.
