Extraordinary concert by Maestro Pappano with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe at the Teatro Civico in Rho
On Saturday 9 November 2024, ahead of the upcoming Italy tour of Sir Anthony Pappano, conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, an inaugural concert will take place at Teatro Civico Roberto de Silva in Rho. The event is sponsored by the Bracco Foundation and by the Roberto de Silva and Diana Bracco Foundation. The special concert inaugurates the Music Season.
The event sees one of the most internationally successful orchestra under one of the most loved and admired conductors in the world playing in a new theatre that has already become a major landmark on the cultural scene of Lombardy. Here is the programme for the special event on November 9th.
The concert programme is dedicated to French and American music of the 20th century. “La création du monde”, op. 81G is a ballet by the French composer Darius Milha that fuses jazz, Caribbean rhythms and the blues. Next up is Piano Concerto No. 2 by Saint-Saens, probably one of the best known pieces of the piano repertoire of all time, first performed under the conductorship of Anton Rubinstein. The programme closes with the Variations for Piano and Orchestra on “I Got Rhythm” (from the musical “Girl Crazy”), composed between 1933 and 1934 by Gershwin, and “Fancy Free”, a ballet by choreographer Jerome Robbins based on a score by Leonard Bernstein, premiered on 18 April 1944 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
After this inaugural concert, the Italy tour begins with visits to Brescia (November 10), Modena (November 11), Turin (November 12) and Udine (November 14).
The support provided by the Bracco and Diana Bracco and Roberto de Silva Foundations is part of their broader commitment to culture and, especially, to music, the educational value of which is matchless.
The link between Bracco and Teatro Civico di Rho [the Civic Theatre of Rho] runs deep. Built by Bracco Real Estate in 2019, this innovative theatre is named after the entrepreneur and philanthropist of the arts, Roberto De Silva, who was married to Diana Bracco before he passed away in 2012.
