Conservatory Prize 2023: Winners sponsored by the Bracco Foundation

On Thursday 26 October, the Sala Verdi of the Conservatory of Milan was full for the ninth prize-giving ceremony for the winners of an internal competition for students enrolled in the Conservatory for the academic year 2022-23. The competition referred to ten categories ranging from ancient music to modern pop and involved soloists, chamber groups, jazz musicians and singers.

The Conservatory, along with many private and institutional patrons, conferred various prizes on young musicians. One such patron was the Bracco Foundation which, as part of its mission to encourage young talents in both the scientific and artistic fields to reach their full potential, conferred the following three prizes:
• 2nd prize in the new category of Ancient Music (€3 thousand)
• 3rd prize in the new category of Ancient Music (€3 thousand)
• 2nd prize in the category of Jazz (€3 thousand)

The winners were: Beniamino Borciani (second prize in the category of Music for ancient instruments and voices); Leone Keith Tuccinarci (third prize in the category of Music for ancient instruments and voices); and a quartet made up of Giacomo Cazzaro, Jaromir Rusnak, Filippo Loi and Andrea Lo Palo (second prize in the category of Jazz).

The evening ended with a splendid performance of G. Verdi's Requiem (written for the death of Alessando Manzoni, whose 150th birth anniversary falls this year) by the Symphony Orchestra of the Milan Conservatory conducted by Pietro Mianiti. The orchestra is made up exclusively of Conservatory students.
