Conference “Why invest in culture?”

In the setting of the ninth Confindustria Week of Corporate Culture, Bracco Foundation is organising a conference on the relationship between Corporate Foundations and Culture, on the importance of economic investments in culture as a way of helping our society grow.

The increasing number of Corporate Foundations in recent years express a growing awareness on the part of companies that social responsibility is an absolute necessity in order to achieve better social, environmental and economic conditions. It is in culture, defined as knowledge, education, but also beauty (of the arts and the countryside) and in its protection and enhancement, that lies the identity of Italy and the definition our way of being; despite current difficulties, the desire to “produce culture” and to make use of it is still thriving.

Many Corporate Foundations, which are often the expression of the desires and values of a family business, give priority to cultural activities, in the conviction that the growth of a civil society is largely supported by culture. A debate, with the participation of academics and institutions, on the role, the motivations and the aim is that corporate Foundations can and must have in society, above all in the light of current civil and cultural transformations.
