More than 12 minutes of applause greet the splendid American performance of the La Scala Academy

An all Italian repertoire to celebrate the Year of Italian Culture in the United States, in the second date of the tour that took, thanks to Bracco Foundation, the La Scala Theatre Academy Orchestra first to Chicago and then to the Strathmore Music Center near Washington.

A concert lasting an hour and a half in which Maestro Daniele Rustioni passionately led the young musicians and soloists Ludmilla Bauerfeldt (soprano) and Jaeyoon Jung (tenor) through the overtures and arias of the best-known operas of Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi and Puccini, finishing with a thrilling incursion into more recent music, a symphonic interpretation of the soundtrack by Nino Rota for Fellini’s film 'La strada'.

An extraordinary concert, greeted by the American public with great enthusiasm, standing ovations and calls for an encore. Claudio Bisogniero, Italian Ambassador in the USA, commented with great satisfaction: “Music has had a front-line role in the Year of Culture and throughout 2013 has been the protagonist of great events, in Washington and in the main cities of the USA. Today, with the La Scala Theatre Academy, we conclude the musical programme of the Year in the best possible way.”
