Launched in 2021 and renewed annually since the success of the first edition, which saw the participation of 170 students, the Renato Ugo Scholarships offer a concrete opportunity for undergraduate students to excel in their academic and professional careers.
The Renato Ugo Scholarships recall the unwavering commitment of Professor Renato Ugo, a distinguished professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Milan and long-serving president of AIRI, to educating the next generation of scientists. The aim of the initiative is to encourage collaboration between the academic and professional worlds and to bring talented young STEM students into contact with companies at the forefront of industrial innovation.
For, as the Chair of the Bracco Foundation Diana Bracco put it, scientific research is the indispensable motive force behind the growth and development of a country. It is therefore essential to oppose the prejudicial views that continue to limit the presence of women in the sciences, which is why we must promote greater gender diversity in STEM. The "Renato Ugo" scholarships are particularly careful to recognize the intellectual talents of female students, with the aim of narrowing the gender gap in the field of scientific and technological research.
